Baruch Defeats Trinity on Senior Night (56-39), Women's CUNYAC Tournament Starts Sunday

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Bantams of Trinity College, 56-39, in a non-conference women's basketball contest played on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (16-9) used solid defense to limit the visiting Bantams (10-13) to only 24.1 percent shooting and easily won the rebounding battle with a 47-35 margin.

The contest was close early with the Bearcats leading 31-28 with 17:45 remaining, but they out-scored the Bantams 17-3 over the next nine minutes to pull away for the convincing 56-39 victory.


Kiara Johnsonled the Bearcats with 13 points (4-6 fg), while Jessica Dulebanarrowly missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Folashade Akindetotaled 10 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Kaitlin Ciarleglio led the visitors from Hartford, Connecticut with 17 points and five rebounds. Carly Napier was the next best scorer with seven points.

Prior to the start of the game, the women's basketball team honored seniors Alyscia Jordan,
Shamika Boyceand Folashade Akinde in front of family and friends.

Baruch will return to action on Sunday, February 19, with a 3:00 pm (updated time) CUNYAC Championship Tournament home quarterfinal contest against CCNY in the ARC Arena.
