Mighty Macs Snap Raven's Three-Game Winning Streak

IMMACULATA, Pa. - A charged-up Immaculata Mighty Macs squad (12-11, 10-4 CSAC) overwhelmed the Rosemont Ravens (11-12, 5-10 CSAC) women's basketball team this afternoon, pinning a loss on the Ravens by a final score of 73-52. The win clinched a CSAC playoff spot for the Macs on their Senior Day.

The Ravens never tasted the lead in this one, as Immaculata ran out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes and never looked back. Rosemont went on a 7-0 run of their own to get back to within three points, 10-7 with 14:30 left in the half, but could get no closer for the remainder of the contest.

The Mighty Macs extended their half-time advantage, leading by as much as 24, 64-40 with 5:47 left.

Liz Coyne (Fr./Downingtown West/West Chester, Pa.) led the Ravens, scoring 20 with 10 rebounds to earn her 10th double-double of the year. Ashley Montecchio (Jr./Sun Valley/Aston, Pa.) scored 11 while Vanessa Johnson (Sr./G.W. Carver/Philadelphia, Pa.) reeled in 10 boards for the visitors.

The Mighty Macs placed four players in double-figures led by Kelly Brown with 25 points. Also in double-figures were Bridget Welz (14), Leah Kuczynski (13) and Chrissy Esbensen (10).

The Ravens play their next game in Phoenixville, Pa. against the Patriots of Valley Forge Christian college in a non-conference game on Monday, 2/13 beginning at 6:00pm.
