Hot-Shooting Ozarks Takes Down Lady Choctaws, 65-49

CLARKSVILLE, AR - The Mississipppi College women's basketball team allowed the University of the Ozarks to shoot 50% (24-48) from the floor in a 65-49 loss on Saturday afternoon in the Mabee Center.

The Lady Choctaws (14-8, 12-6 ASC) had their four-game winning streak snapped, while the Lady Eagles (12-11, 8-10 ASC) are now tied for fourth in the East Division with the win.

Ozarks led the entire game, grabbing as much as a 20-point advantage in the second half, holding MC to just 30% (17-56) from the floor.  The Lady Choctaws outscored Ozarks, 31-30, in the second half.

Junior Elizabeth Brooks led MC with 15 points and six rebounds on 5-8 shooting.  Brooks also added a team-high five steals.  Juniors Caitlin Brown and Kristin Newsome each led the way with seven boards.

Lacey Phillips led the Eagles with 21 points on 8-11 shooting, including going 4-5 from the three-point line.  Sabrina Goddard and April Young each finished in double-figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Lady Choctaws will return home to face Centenary on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome".
