CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Three Kohawks scored in double-figures, as Coe shot 50.9 percent from the floor to beat Cornell 76-57 Wednesday night at Eby Fieldhouse.  The win was the fifth-straight over the Rams for the Kohawks.

Cornell led twice in the first 2:55 of the game, but an 8-2 run by the Kohawks with 16:46 to play in the first half gave them the lead for good.  The Rams cut the lead to three with 12:45 left in the first half on a layup by Taylor Dicus, but Coe responded with back-to-back 3-pointers from sophomore Hannah Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) and senior Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) to start an 18-5 run in the next 8:46.  With Coe's lead at 16, the Rams ended the final 3:40 of the opening half on a 6-0 run, as Coe led 30-20 at the break.

Rikki Mulloy scored the first basket of the second half just :08 in, but Coe responded with a 9-0 run to put the lead into double figures for good.  A 3-pointer from Mulloy with 11:34 remaining cut the lead to 12, but Coe had an answer again with a 16-5 run in the next 5:28, taking its largest lead of the game at 65-42 with 5:44 to play on a 3-pointer by senior Kelsey Jipp (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley).

Freshman Megan Hayes (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) led the Kohawks with her fifth double-double of the year.  Hayes finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while tying a career-high with six blocked shots and adding two assists.  Hayes moved into fourth on the single-season blocks list with 40.  Senior Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) and sophomore Mary Halvorson (Waterville, Iowa/Waukon) joined Hayes in double figures with 10 points.  

Waskow was 4-of-6 from the free throw line, passing Jamie Dalbey '02 for second on the career free throws list with 267.  Breitbach chipped in nine points on three 3-pointers, while sophomore Mackenzie Reed (Iowa City, Iowa/West) added seven points off the bench.  Mulloy led the Rams with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-21 shooting.

Waskow led the Kohawks with eight rebounds and four assists.  Halvorson added three assists, while Ware and junior Caitlin Kray (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) had two assists, tying a career-high for Kray.  Jipp tied a career-high with three steals.

The Kohawks shot 50.9 percent from the floor, while holding the Rams to 36.8 percent shooting.  Coe dominated in the paint, outscoring the Rams 34-18.  The Kohawks also held a 25-12 advantage on bench points.

With losses by Wartburg and Loras Wednesday night, the Kohawks are now a half game behind Simpson for first place in the Iowa Conference standings.  The Storm are 10-3 in league play, while Coe is 10-4.  They are the only 10-win teams in the league.
