STEVENSON, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (6-15, 2-11 CAC) dropped a 60-43 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the Stevenson University Mustangs (9-12, 5-8 CAC) Saturday afternoon.

Dyanna Prater contributed a game-high 14 points while Emily Maerz notched her fourth career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Maerz also drained two three-pointers on the day to extend her streak of hitting at least one triple to 17 consecutive games, which is the second-longest streak in program history.

Hood came up empty on its first six attempts from the floor, but it was a Maerz jumper that got the Blazers on the scoreboard at the 13:53 mark. Fortunately for Hood, the Mustangs had shooting woes of their own and only mustered six points during that opening 6:07 stretch.

Later in the half, Prater converted a fast-break layup to knot the score at 14-14 with 3:25 to play. However the momentum was short-lived as Stevenson reeled off the final 11 points of the half and led 25-14 at the break.

Hood was unable to make a dent in the Mustang lead in the second half as Stevenson would go on to complete the series sweep with the win.

Sam Murray and Amanda Craig combined for 25 of Stevenson's 60 points on the day.

The setback eliminates Hood from the CAC playoffs.

The Blazers return to BB&T Arena Wednesday to take on the University of Mary Washington Eagles at 6 p.m. The undefeated Eagles are ranked in the top 10 in NCAA Division III and are in first place in the CAC standings.
