Cadets claim key league win

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University sophomore guard Kristen Brown (Williamstown, Vt.) sank the front end of a one-and-one with 0.7 seconds left in regulation to clinch a 59-58 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Emerson Jan. 28 at Andrews Gymnasium.

Brown finished the game with 13 points, her second straight contest scoring in double digits, to go along with four assists. Freshman guard Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) scored a game-high 17 points for the Cadets who move to 8-12 (3-5 GNAC).

Junior forward Jessalyn Sweeney (Standfordville, N.Y.) and senior forward Jocelyn Fasulo (Contoocook, N.H.) paced Norwich on the glass, pulling down eight and seven rebounds respectively.

Olivia DiNucci scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Emerson. Catherine Cloutier nearly had a double-double of her own with nine points and ten rebounds.

The victory marks the first back-to-back home wins for the Cadets since Dec. 8th and 10th versus Southern Vermont and Wentworth.

NU travels to face St. Joseph (Conn.) for a crucial GNAC contest Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
