After opening the game on a 10-0 run, the No. 25 Falcon women's basketball team ensured that Stout would remain winless in the WIAC with a 73-47 victory at the Karges Center.

The Falcons put on a shooting performance, connecting on 28 of 51 for 54.0 percent in a game the Falcons never trailed.  The Falcons would lead by seven or more from 13:25 remaining in the first half until the buzzer sounded to end the game.  Their largest lead was 31 with 3:11 to go in the game.

Leading the offensive onslaught was Alise Holst (Plainview, MN, Plainview-Elgin-Millville).  She poured in a game-high 19 points on 8-13 shooting from the field.  She also had six rebounds and three of UWRF's 15 steals to help lead the defensive charge that forced 29 turnovers.

It was also a career night for freshman Jessie Van Wyhe (Albertville, MN, St. Michael-Albertville).  Van Wyhe scored 10 points on 4-6 shooting from the field.  The young Falcon eclipsed her previous career-high of four points, which came against UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 14.

In yet another solid performance for the soaring Falcons was Maranda Dohrn (Lake City, MN, Lake City).  Dohrn grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and chipped in 11 points for her sixth double double of the season.  She also led all players with three blocks.  Dohrn's 12 rebounds helped give UWRF a 37-35 advantage over Stout in total rebounds.

Nikki Guhr (Muskego, WI, Muskego) also had a hot hand.  She had 16 points on a strong 7-10 shooting from the field.  She also had three steals.

Although the Falcons had 25 turnovers of their own, they made sure that when they got a turnover, they made it count.  UWRF scored 29 points off turnovers, whereas Stout managed 17.  The Falcon defense also made sure that Stout could not find the basket, as they shot a cold 30.8 percent from the field, connecting on 16 of 52.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 15-4 overall and 7-3 in the WIAC.  Stout meanwhile, falls to 4-15 overall, and 0-10 in conference play.  UWRF has now swept the season series against Stout.  On Dec. 14 UWRF defeated the Blue Devils 69-38.  UWRF is now 42-37 in the all time series.

Up next for the Falcons is a home match against UW-Platteville.  Action is set to get underway at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, as the Falcons will try to go for their second series sweep in conference play.  On Dec. 3 the Falcons beat Platteville 67-46. UWRF does have a 39-24 advantage in the all times series.
