Huge Second Half Propels Medaille Women to Easy Victory Over Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, PA - The Medaille College women's basketball team overcame a sluggish start by overwhelming host Pitt-Bradford in the second half en route to a (54-39) AMCC victory.  The two teams struggled to score in the opening 20 minutes as Medaille held a (17-16) advantage at the break.

Both teams struggled to capitalize on opportunities in the first half as each of the squads shot poorly.  The Lady Mavs would gain momentum midway through the second half and would never relinquish it as they stepped on the gas and never looked back.

Dominant play came from the duo of Tanisha Travis and Joelle Pollak, each of whom made a Panther comeback impossible.  Travis continued to shine as she was awesome on the night, finishing with team highs in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots with (20, 14, 4, & 3) respectively.  Meanwhile Pollak poured in (17) points, pulled down (11) boards and dished out (3) assists.

The Lady Mavs continued to dominate in the lane as they outscored Pitt-Bradford (28-14) in the paint while also turning (20) Panther turnovers into (19) points on the other end of the floor.  A stingy Medaille defense limited the Panthers to (25.0%) shooting from the floor and (18.8%) from behind the arc.  The Lady Mavs dominated the boards as well, outrebounding Pitt-Bradford (49-37) overall and (13-11) on the offensive glass.

The win is the fifth straight for Medaille as they improve to (14-4) overall and (10-2) in AMCC play.  They will look to extend their win streak to six games when they head to AMCC foe Franciscan University on Saturday (1/28) for a 3:00pm tipoff against the Barons.
