BOSTON, MASS. – Freshman guard Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) guided Norwich University in scoring during a 53-26 Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss to Suffolk College Jan. 21.
Despite her efforts, NU couldn't avert its fourth consecutive loss. The Cadets (6-11 overall, 1-5 GNAC) trailed 28-15 at halftime and couldn't get any closer to the Rams (12-5, 6-1) due to an 11-point second half. Norwich struggled from the field throughout hitting just eight-of-56 field goal attempts and being out-rebounded 51-37.
Curry's 10-point game continued a pair of impressive individual streaks. She's led the squad in scoring in eight straight contests and been in double figures in 12 consecutive games. Other top numbers for the Maroon and Gold came from senior forward Jocelyn Fasulo (Contoocook, N.H.) (nine rebounds and a blocked shot) and junior guard Jessalyn Sweeney (Standfordville, N.Y.) (eight ebounds).
Norwich opens a busy three-game schedule Monday, Jan. 23, when in-state rival Lyndon State visits for a 7 p.m. tipoff inside Andrews Gymnasium.
