NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – In its 48-point victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent The College of Brockport (3-11, 0-7 SUNYAC), the State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team (8-7, 6-2 SUNYAC) had 14 players see action, with each scoring at least two points in the 71-23 decision Friday evening at the Hawk Center.

Four Hawk players scored a game-high eight points in the victory: junior guard Maliqua Fisher (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon), freshman point guard Deanna Molinelli (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place), junior guard Kahsyrah Bryant (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and sophomore point guard Pippa Mansdorf (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings). In addition, senior guard Caitlin Irwin (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and junior forward Alex McCullough (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) each tacked on seven points. Senior forward Shanay Bradley (Bronx, N.Y./New Explorers) paced the team on the glass with eight rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by a six-point, eight-rebound performance by Rachel Csakany, with Cecilia Sigrist contributing four points and four boards of her own. Desiree Fauvelle stole away three possessions from the Hawks.

All 14 Hawk players that saw action each played at least nine minutes, scored at least two points and grabbed at least one rebound. Sophomore forward Jeanette Scott (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) saw the least amount of court time with nine minutes, while Mansdorf had the team-high in minutes played with just 19.

New Paltz set the pace early, beginning the game on a 10-2 run in the first 1:59 of play, scoring on its first five offensive possessions. A 15-0 run midway through the first half gave the Hawks a 26-point lead, 35-9, with 6:30 remaining in the first half. The lead would reach 29 points in the waning seconds of the first half, but two Csakany free-throws sent the game to halftime with a 40-13 New Paltz lead.

If the decision were in any doubt, a 10-0 second-half-opening run started by three-pointers from Irwin and McCullough answered all questions, allowing New Paltz to lead 50-13 with just over 14 minutes remaining in the game. A layup by Molinelli with 1:24 remaining gave the game its final score of 71-23.
Brockport was held to 16.7 percent shooting on a 7-of-42 night from the floor, while New Paltz shot at a 42.3 percent clip, hitting 30 of its 71 shots. The triumph marks the largest home margin of victory for the Hawks since Jan. 9, 2009, when New Paltz defeated Morrsville State College, 76-13, at the Hawk Center.

The Hawks look to ride the momentum of their victory into future SUNYAC play just around the corner. New Paltz hosts SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Hawk Center.
