Cal Lutheran Suffers Road Loss to Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran never fully recovered from an early 17-point blitz in suffering a 67-54 road conference loss to Redlands. Mariah Barbetti-Cort paced the Bulldogs with 26 points and 13 rebounds against the Regals.

Redlands broke open a 7-7 tie with 17 unanswered points. The Bulldogs connected on 6-of-11 first half attempts from downtown, including three during that stretch.

Cal Lutheran responded with a 10-0 run of its own and pulled to within four points late in the first half, but never pulled any closer. The Regals knocked down 4-of-9 from beyond the arc over the first 20 minutes, but made just 1-of-9 in the second period.

Barbetti-Cort was one rebound shy of a double-double at the half and finished with game-highs of 26 points, 13 boards and four steals. Teammate Courtney Carroll finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

Erica Whitley was the Cal Lutheran starter to score in the second half contributing seven of her nine points in the frame. Teammate Channing Fleischmann finished with a team-high 11 points and both finished with three steals.

Cal Lutheran (9-6, 3-2 SCIAC) will face its second conference unbeaten in Occidental (13-2, 5-0 SCIAC) at home Saturday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m.
