UC-Santa Cruz misfired on its first 13 field goal attempts but finally claimed its first basket -- nine minutes into the contest -- when Sarah Mackey put back an offensive rebound.

Mackey's bucket momentarily trimmed the Banana Slug deficit to 24-5, but Whitman countered with eight straight points to turn the game into a full-fledged rout.
