No. 6 DePauw rolls past Denison

More news about: Denison

Sixth ranked DePauw extended its winning streak to 13 games following a 64-37 win over the Denison Big Red on Wednesday night from Livingston Gymnasium.  In the process the Tigers strengthened its grasp on first place in the North Coast Athletic Conference thanks to a suffocating defense and an efficient offensive attack.

DePauw held Denison to a season-low 14 first half points and held a 19-point lead at the intermission.  In the second half Denison improved on the offensive end and lowered its turnover count but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.

The Tigers shot 54 percent from the field for the game and were led by Katie Aldrich's 17 points off a 6-of-8 shooting performance.  Ellie Pearson added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds in 23 minutes.  Kate Walker finished with nine points and seven rebounds for the visitors.

Denison got 15 points from sophomore Jane Windler.  She was 6-for-11 from the field while accounting for 40 percent of the team's offense.  Serafina Nuzzo followed with seven points in 31 minutes.

Denison shot 29 percent from the field (14-of-48) and were outrebounded 33-22.  The Tiger bench outscored DU 22-9 as the Big Red fell to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the NCAC with the loss.

DePauw moves to 14-1 and 7-0 in the NCAC with the win.  The Big Red will look to rebound on Saturday when they host 2011 NCAC runner-up Allegheny at 1 p.m.
