Coach Duke Wins 300th Game, 58-47, at ETBU

MARSHALL, TX - Mississippi College head coach Paul Allen Duke picked up his 300th career victory with 58-47 win over East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gymnasium.

Coach Duke is the winningest coach in school history with 300 wins and 121 losses over his 17-year career.  His first win came on November 23rd, 1995 with a 75-36 victory over Selma (AL).

Early on it was East Texas Baptist that jumped out to a 10-4 lead, but the Lady Choctaws (8-6, 6-4 ASC) took a 19-17 advantage with 4:58 remaining in the first half and never trailed again.

After leading 27-19 at the halftime break, MC shot 61% (14-23) from the floor in the second half to put the game away.  The Lady Choctaw defense was equally as efficient, holding ETBU to just 33% (17-52) shooting for the game.

Junior Ebony Williams scored 21 points for the second consecutive game, going 9-14 from the floor and pulling down six rebounds.  Junior Traci Rodgers came off the bench to scored 12 points, making 3-7 three-pointers.

The Lady Tigers were led by Enid Sanchez with 14 points, making 4-11 three-pointers.  Leading scorer Brandace Latin scored 13 points, while Holly Phelps pulled down a game-high 10 boards.

ETBU is the leading rebounding team in the ASC, pulling down 11 more rebounds than their opponents.  MC kept them in check, only being outrebounded, 31-30.

The Lady Choctaws will return home to play Texas-Dallas on Thurday night at 5:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome."
