(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Junior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 74-58 win over Waynesburg University tonight (Wednesday, January 11, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 11-3 overall and 7-0 in the PAC and take over solo possession of first place in the PAC.  With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the PAC.

Waynesburg jumped out to an early 24-15 lead when Hannah Hunter made two free-throws with 11:20 to play in the first half.  Thomas More answered with an 8-2 run capped by a lay-up by junior guard Jill Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) to cut the lead to 26-23 with 9:14 to play in the opening half.  The Yellow Jackets responded with a 9-5 run to extend the lead to 35-28 with 3:32 to play in the first half when Brittany Spencer made a jumper.  The Saints closed out the half on a 10-5 run to cut the lead to 40-38 at halftime when sophomore guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) made a jumper at the buzzer.

Thomas More opened the second half on a 6-0 run to take a 44-40 lead at the 17:57 mark of the second half when freshman forward Kelli Dixon (Walton, Ky./Walton-Verona) made a lay-up.  Waynesburg answered with a 9-0 run capped by a Hunter three-pointer to take a 49-44 with 14:21 to play in the game.  Thomas More closed out the game on a 30-9 run capped by a lay-up by sophomore guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 20-seconds to play in the game for the 74-58 victory.

Three other Saints joined Long in double-figures as Dixon finished with 14 points, Kitchen added 12 and Beasley finished with 10.  Junior forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the team on the boards with a game-high eight rebounds.  Beasley led the team in assists with five, while Long led the team in steals with five and sophomore forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) led the team in blocks with four. 

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (January 14) when it travels to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to play Saint Vincent College at 2 p.m.
