Reading, Pa. (Jan. 11, 2012) - Senior center Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Alvernia University (6-6, 1-2) to a 95-73 win over Arcadia University (4-8, 0-3) Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at the Physical Education Center.
The Crusaders had their biggest half of the year putting up 51 points in the first and held a 51-37 lead at the break. They added 44 points in the second for the 22-point win.
Freshman Kaitlyn Yoh (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and senior Allie Toczylowski (Mantua, N.J./Clearview Regional) each scored 14 points and Kelli McIntyre (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) added 13.
Alvernia opened up a 16-5 lead and never trailed. The Crusaders shot 45 percent from the floor connecting on 35-of-78 shots and held a 46-44 advantage in rebounding. Arcadia put three players in double figures led by 18 each from Victoria Roukas and Jenn Crothers.
Alvernia contines the conference schedule on Saturday at Lebanon Valley College.
