GREENSBORO, N.C. - Gabby Oglesby scored 16 of her game-high 24 points in the second half of Guilford College's 75-66 win over Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers (9-2, 6-0 ODAC) moved into first place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings over the Marlins (9-3, 6-1 ODAC), who also entered the game unbeaten in league play.

For the second straight game, Oglesby was the difference in the second half of a close game. The sophomore forward overcame a hard first-half collision with the Marlins' Shawnee Lewis late in the first half. Oglesby, who had eight points at the time of the collision returned for the final minute of the half, but Lewis was unable to return.

The game was tightly contested throughout, with neither team holding more than a three-point advantage through the first 13 minutes. Virginia Wesleyan surged and built an 11-point advantage before Guilford's Jazlyn Gibbs (20 points) scored eight of her 10 first-half points to help cut the deficit to 34-30 at halftime.

The Quakers took a brief lead four minutes into the second half, but Virginia Wesleyan regained a six-point edge, which stood until the 3:02 mark when an Oglesby jumper gave Guilford the lead for good. The Quakers made seven-of-10 free throws as part of their 21-6 game-ending run in the final eight minutes, which included eight Oglesby points.

Gibbs made four-of-six three-pointers and finished with 20 points and seven boards. Point guard Brittany Atwater added 11 points, matched her career-high with 11 assists and turned the ball over just twice. Morgan King finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Jaclyn Nucci scored only one point, but had a game- and career-high 12 rebounds. The Quakers shot 43.9 percent from the field, including 57.7 percent in the second half.

The Marlins were led by Kristen Blalock's team-high 23 points. Sarah Seipp chipped in with 15, which helped Virginia Wesleyan to a 39-9 edge in bench scoring. The Marlins converted on just five of 22 three-point attempts.

Guilford returns to action Tuesday (1/10) on the road against ODAC-foe Randolph College at 7:00 p.m.
