Riverdale, N.Y. – In its first home game of the New Year, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team was downed by visiting Farmingdale St. by a score of 62-35 on Saturday afternoon. The point total is the lowest since the Mount scored only 31 points against Mount Saint Mary on November 30, 2010.

Mount Saint Vincent never led on Saturday and scored only 13 points in the opening 20 minutes of play. After an Andrea Sinaly (Middle Village, N.Y.) lay-in cut the Mount deficit to 5-2 with 17:53 to play in the half, the Rams put together a 10-0 run to open a 15-2 advantage at the 13:39 mark of the period.

The Dolphins would get the lead down to six points after a Kayla Giordano (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) triple and a bucket from Brittany Griffin (Suffern, N.Y.), but would go over eight minutes without scoring before Sinaly converted a jumper with just under four minutes to play before halftime.

Farmingdale St. scored 20 points off of 16 Mount Saint Vincent first half turnovers on its way to a 29-13 advantage at the break. The Dolphins shot just 18.5-percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes and went just 1-for-10 from behind the arc.

The Dolphins opened the second half with another sustained scoring drought and did not get on the board until a Sarah Kluth (Lynbrook, N.Y.) jumper at 16:28 of the period. Farmingdale St. used the drought to its advantage and went on a 13-4 run in the first five-plus minutes to open a 42-17 lead.

Farmingdale St. would keep its lead over 20 points the remainder of the afternoon and used a Jeanette Zubizarreta triple to gain its largest advantage of the day, 62-32, with 1:26 left to play.

Overall the Dolphins shot 23.7-percent from the floor and went just 4-for-17 from the free-throw line. Kluth led the Mount with six points and also secured nine rebounds, while leading the team with three assists. She also swiped a team-high three steals on the day.

Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) matched the game-high with 10 rebounds, with Griffin and Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) each grabbing seven boards. Griffin, Giordano and Desiree Rosa (Dumont, N.J.) each posted five points for the Mount.

Farmingdale St. was led by a double-double from Kayla Koch who totaled a game-high 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Nikita Green led all players with nine assists, while Dominique Cummings and Christina Merrill each totaled eight points.

The Rams' defense forced 35 Mount Saint Vincent turnovers on the day and outscored the Dolphins in points off of miscues by a commanding 34-8 total. The Rams also held the advantage in the paint 22-12 and in fast break points 8-2.

The loss is Mount Saint Vincent's second straight and drops it to 3-6 overall on the season and to 0-2 in league play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Tuesday when they play host to Old Westbury. Tip-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
