Aggies Fend Off Raven's Second-Half Rally

More news about: Rosemont

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Rosemont College women's basketball team (5-5) showed signs of rustiness in returning to the court after a three-week break, opening up the game shooting only 9% on 2-for-23 from the field to open the game. The home Aggies of Delaware Valley College (8-4) took advantage of the early low-percentage shooting from Rosemont to take a 16-point lead into the half.

The Ravens fought back to within six points with 1:31 left in the game, but couldn't get closer, ultimately losing this non-conference game by a final score of 71-59.

Considering the hole that the Ravens dug themselves into, they snapped back in a big way to make a game out of it.

Leading the comeback for the Ravens was Dominique Sellers (Fr./Woodbury, NJ), who scored a career-high 13 points in 19 minutes of play off the bench.

The rustiness did start to wear off and the Raven's offense showed signs of life later in the game leading to Liz Coyne (Fr./Downingtown West/West Chester, Pa.) scoring 12 points and Ashley Montecchio (Jr./Sun Valley/Aston, Pa.) hitting 10 points. Coyne grabbed 12 boards to earn her fourth double-double of the season.

Rosemont ended up shooting 27.3% from the field compared to the Aggies shooting just over 39%. The Ravens left six points on the foul line, shooting 10-for-16 (54.5%) from the charity stripe.

The Ravens come home on Saturday, 1/7 to begin their longest home stand of the season, as they host the Knights of Neumann University in a CSAC game. The game is scheduled to tip-off in Alumnae Hall at 1:00pm.
