GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman guard Elizabeth Lynch scored the final five points, including two free throws with five seconds left, and Haverford College erased a 12-point second-half deficit en route to a 66-65 overtime win over Gettysburg in Bream Gymnasium Thursday evening.

The win gave the Fords (7-3, 4-3 CC), who outscored the Bullets 6-0 over the final 1:40, their first-ever victory over Gettysburg in 25 tries.

Junior guard Alyssa Oursler tied a career-high with 17 points for the Bullets (4-7, 2-4 CC) while sophomore forward Caroline Murphy scored a career-best 14 points in 27 minutes off the bench. Sophomore guard Katie Earley contributed 10 points for the Bullets.

Junior forward Dominique Meeks led Haverford with 14 points and eight rebounds while freshman guard Jacquelyne Pizzuto had 12 points. Junior guard Calla Miller and sophomore guard Rachel Baskin added 10 points each.

The Bullets had an assist on 20 of their 25 field goals, with senior center Sara Kinsley and sophomore guard Rianna Doane handing out four apiece.

Gettysburg was a perfect 10-for-10 at the foul line while Haverford went 14-for-16 at the charity stripe.

The Fords received possession with 27 seconds left in OT following a Gettysburg turnover and promptly called timeout. With her team working for the last shot, Lynch drew a foul away from the ball before knocking down both free throws in a 1-and-1 situation. The Bullets pushed the ball upcourt before Meeks scooped up a loose ball in a scramble near Gettysburg's 3-point line as time expired.

Gettysburg led for the majority of the night, and an 11-0 run midway through the opening half put the hosts up 22-11 with 10:51 left. The Bullets still led by 10 with 1:11 showing before the Fords scored the final four points of the half to cut it to 32-26 at the break.

A 6-0 spurt early in the second period gave the Bullets their largest lead of the night (45-33) following a pair of Cori Younghans free throws. Gettysburg enjoyed its final double-digit lead (53-43) with 7:03 remaining, but that's when Haverford began to climb back into it. A conventional 3-point play from Baskin tied it at 57-all with 2:32 left, and Miller gave the Fords their first lead since the 16:11 mark of the first half when she connected on a pair of free throws with 1:01 to go, making it 59-57. But Younghans answered with a runner in the lane with 35 ticks showing, and Murphy blocked a shot in the paint just before the buzzer to force the extra session.

Gettysburg scored the first four points of overtime on two Oursler foul shots and a Lauren Dadigan jumper. Murphy sunk a pair of free throws with 2:05 left to make it 65-60 before Haverford went on its game-ending run, starting with a 1-for-2 trip at the line by Baskin with 1:40 left. Lynch drained a trey with 55 seconds remaining before her game-winning free throws.

The Bullets resume their schedule on Saturday, when they visit Washington College at 2 p.m. in another Centennial Conference match-up.
