ADA, Ohio—Sophomore guard Kathleen Phillips (Sandusky/St. Mary's) matched a career-high by pouring in 30 points tonight, but the Heidelberg University women's basketball team fell to Ohio Northern University, 75-53, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game tonight at the ONU Sports Center in Ada, Ohio. Phillips shot 10-of-17 from the field and eight-of-13 from the free throw line.

In addition to Phillips for the Berg (3-9, 0-5 OAC), sophomore guard Megan Miller (Tiffin/Columbian) added seven points and four rebounds and sophomore guard Emily Giel (Burton/Burkshire) passed for a team-high three assists. Phillips scored 30 points earlier this season in a win against Earlham (Ind.) College (Nov. 22) and has led the team in scoring in 11 of 12 games this season, including the last nine straight.

ONU's (11-2, 5-1 OAC) Kara Dysert was one rebound shy of a double-double, leading the Polar Bears with 10 points and a game-high nine boards. Cenzie Yoder, Joanna Snyder and Megan Porter each tallied eight points, as 15 of the 16 Polar Bears who saw action scored.

Trailing, 5-3, during the early going of the first half, Phillips led the Tri-Color on a 5-2 run by making a free throw and a pair of jumpers to give the Berg an 8-7 lead at the 14:24 mark, but it would be the team's last lead of the night.

ONU then went on a 13-0 run to take a 20-8 lead at the 9:20 mark when Snyder made a jumper in the paint. The Polar Bears led by as many as 18 points before the clock ticked under a minute in the first half, and took a 34-15 advantage into the intermission when Jordan Kimes made a fast break lay-up with 51 seconds to play.

The Polar Bears took their first 30-point lead of the half, outscoring Heidelberg, 20-9, over the second period's first 8:37 and would lead by as many as 31 points.

Despite facing a 59-28 deficit with 9:41 to play, the Berg outscored ONU, 25-16, over the course of the remainder of the game.

The Berg shot just 32.2 percent (19-of-59) from the field and were outrebounded by a 44-32 margin, but limited its turnovers to just 14.

The Polar Bears shot a blistering 50.0 percent (28-of-56) from the field, including 40.0 percent (six-of-15) from beyond the arc.

Heidelberg returns to the hardwood Saturday, Jan. 7, opening a four-game home stretching two weeks, beginning with an OAC contest against Marietta College at 3 p.m.
