Brooklyn Finishes 2011 with 63-51 Loss at NYU

New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team concluded the 2011 portion of its 2011-2012 schedule with a 63-51 loss against New York University in non-conference action earlier today. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 6-4 overall on the season, while the Violets improve to 6-2 overall on the year.

For BC, junior center Tiffany Thompson netted a team-best 13 points to go along with nine rebounds. Senior forward Melissa St. Louis added 10 points coming off the bench.

NYU was led by Cara Bonito who dropped a game-high 17 points. Bianca Storts chipped in with 16 points, while Shelby Coon added 11 points coming off the bench. Makenzie Hirz grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

For the game, the Bulldogs shot 33.9% (20-59) from the field and 25.0% (3-12) from three, while shooting 47.1% (8-17) from the line.

NYU shot 39.6% (19-48) from the field, while going 2-for-8 (25.0%) from beyond the arc. The Violets took full advantage from the charity stripe converting on 23-for-33 (69.7%) from the free throw line.

Brooklyn returns to action on Wednesday, January 4th, as the Bulldogs will play host to City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) South Division rival York College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm at the West Quad Center.
