PELLA, Iowa - Central scored the first four points of the game, but it was Coe College scoring the next 15 points of the game, as they cruised to a 74-60 win over the Dutch Wednesday at Kuyper Fieldhouse.  Three Kohawks scored in double-figures to lead the Kohawks.

Seniors Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) and Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) combined for 12 of Coe's points on the 15-0 run, as they took a 15-4 lead with 14:19 to play in the first half.  Coe extended its lead to 14 points on a 3-pointer by Sarah Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) with 8:23 to play in the opening half.  The Dutch responded with a 9-2 run over the next 1:45, but Coe's lead remained in double digits until the final minute of the half.

Coe scored twice in the first minute of the second half, as they opened the final frame on a 13-3 run in 3:49 to take its largest lead of the game at 48-29 with 15:54 to play.  Central responded with a run of its own, outscoring Coe 13-1 over the next 2:37 to cut the lead to seven with 13:00 to play.  The Kohawks wasted no time putting the lead back to double digits with a 12-4 run in the next 6:53.  Eight of those points in Coe's run came from the free throw line.  Central would get the lead back to 12 on three different occasions in the final 5:56, but couldn't come any closer.

The Kohawks shot 55.1 percent in the game, including 14-of-23 (60.9%) in the second half.  Coe's defense held the Dutch to just 35.7 percent shooting for the game.  Coe won the battle on the boards, out rebounding Central 35-29.

Ware tied her career-high with 19 points, while adding a career-high seven rebounds.  She also had a game-high four assists.  K. Waskow and freshman Megan Hayes (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) joined Ware in double figures with 18 and 13 points respectively.  Hayes finished with a game-high eight rebounds and a career-high two steals, while K. Waskow added six boards and two steals.

Senior Kelsey Jipp (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) added eight points, four assists and two steals.  Sophomore Hannah Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) had two steals, while sophomore Mackenzie Reed (Iowa City, Iowa/West) had a career-high in both assists and steals with three of each.

The Kohawks will have a few days off for finals before returning to action on Saturday, as they travel to Carthage.  Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Kenosha, Wis.
