Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team fell to visiting 17th-ranked Juniata 63-48 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon. The Saints drop to 3-7 overall on the season.
Katelyn Fischer and Tynisha Parks led the Saints with 14 points each. Parks added eight rebounds while Fischer chipped in six boards and four assists.
Marymount took control early, holding Juniata (9-1) to just one field goal in the opening 7:30 of play, and led 12-2 at the 12:46 mark. The Eagles would battle back before a pair of late free throws by Fischer gave the Saints a 25-23 lead going into halftime.
Juniata rallied in the second half, trading leads early before eventually pulling away. The Eagles upped their field goal percentage from 28.1 percent to 46.2% in the second half including a matching clip from three-point territory.
Marymount couldn't hold on to its hot start, shooting 42.1% in the opener including 50% from downtown, but just 33.3% from the field and 16.7% from long-range in the second half.
Kate McDonald led the Eagles with a double-double, scoring a game-high 19 points and grabbing a contest-best 10 rebounds. Ashton Bankos and Jordan Hileman added 12 points each for Juniata
Marymount returns to the hardwood on Tuesday as it travels to face Kean in Union, N.J. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
