OSWEGO, N.Y. - Three Lakers reached double digits to help the Oswego State women's basketball team snap a two-game skid with an 87-50 non-conference win over Cazenovia Friday night at Max Ziel Gymansium. Sophomore Lauren Nunziato (West Sand Lake, N.Y.) led the way with 16 points followed by Kayla Ryan (Sr., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) and Meagan Stover (Jr., Lake George, N.Y.) with 15 each. The victory closed out the 2011 schedule for both squads as Oswego State improved to 7-3 and the Wildcats dropped to 2-5.

With Oswego State leading by five points, four different Lakers combined to score 12 unanswered points to go ahead 22-5 with 14:31 still on the clock. Cazenovia's Haley Zambito drained a three-pointer on the next possession to make it a 14-point game, but that would be as close as the Wildcats would get for the rest of the game.

Following an Oswego State timeout later in the half, Kari Kipper (Jr., Loudonville, N.Y.) found Ryan open for a trey to give the Lakers their largest lead of the frame at 23 points with five minutes to play. Head coach Tracy Bruno's squad finished the first 20 minutes shooting 56.3 percent (18-for-32) from the field and 50.0 percent (6-for-12) from long range while forcing Cazenovia to commit 14 turnovers to take a 49-29 lead into halftime.

The Lakers cooled off slightly in the second half, but still shot 45.5 percent (15-for-33) to keep the Wildcats from getting back into the game.

In addition to her 15 points, Ryan also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists, and recorded two steals. Cazenovia was led by Megan McDermott, who scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the first half, and Zambito, who posted 11 points.

The Lakers return to the court on Monday, Jan. 2 when they face NYU in New York City.
