Lady Choctaws Fall to LC, 71-56

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College women's basketball team could not overcome an early deficit as they fell to Louisiana College, 71-56, on Tuesday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

The Lady Wildcats (7-1, 5-0 ASC) jumped out to a 9-0 lead to open the game before the Lady Choctaws (3-3, 3-2 ASC) went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 21-20 with 6:27 remaining in the first half.  LC scored the final seven points of the period to take a 38-24 advantage into hafltime.

In the second half, MC would not get closer than eight points as the Lady Wildcats held off a charge by MC for the 15-point win.

Junior Caitlin Brown led MC with 15 points and six rebounds on 7-15 shooting.  Junior Elizabeth Brooks scored 12 second half points, while freshman Madelyn Cross pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.

Four different Lady Wildcats scored in double-figures led by Shasidy Ludgood with 13 points.  Natosha Gottlieb chipped in 12 points, while Melody Criswell and Roslyn Wilmer each scored 11.  Criswell led the team with eight rebounds.

Neither team took care of the basketball with a combined 57 turnovers and 35 steals.

The Lady Choctaws will hit the road for two conference games when they travel to Belton, TX to face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday, December 15th at 5:30 p.m.
