BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team got tremendous performances from a trio of starters in a hard fought (67-55) non-conference home win over St. Lawrence University in the Sullivan Center this afternoon.

On a day where the Lady Mavs received just one point off the bench it would be the starting five that would dictate the outcome of the game.  The reigning AMCC Player of the Week Joelle Pollak put forth a dominant performance as she poured in a game high (24) points, pulled down (7) rebounds and dished out a game high (7) assists as well.  Part of her point production included knocking down four three pointers, two of which came on consecutive possessions late in the game that thwarted a Saint comeback attempt.

Putting up her fourth double/double of the season was Tanisha Travis who tallied (16) points on (7 of 12) shooting while pulling down a game best (14) boards, (6) steals and one blocked shot.  Meanwhile, rookie Morgan Howe had the best day of her young career as she tallied a new high in points with (18), as she knocked down (7 of 10) field goal attempts.

The game was a back and forth affair in the opening minutes before the Lady Mavs broke a (12-12) tie at the (13:29) mark by going on an (18-2) run that spanned just over ten minutes of game time, to surge ahead (30-14).  That momentum would carry into the intermission as Medaille held a (38-21) lead at the break.

Coming out of the locker room the Lady Mavs increased their lead to (21) points before the Saints began to chip away at the Medaille lead.  However, the two late three's by Pollak kept St. Lawrence at arms length and some key free throws down the stretch sealed the victory for Medaille.

The Lady Mavs have now won three straight and have done so in impressive fashion.  They move to (4-3) on the year and will get right back at it tomorrow (12/11) when they host AMCC foe Franciscan University at 2:00pm.  That game will follow the men's game against Franciscan which has a noon tipoff.
