Second Half Rally Pushes Albion Past Trine

ALBION, Mich. – Patty Rewa produced five points with two baskets and a free throw and Taylor Nugent and Chelsea Miller added 3-point field goals as Albion College ripped off an 11-0 run to pull away for a 57-44 victory over Trine University in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action at Kresge Gymnasium.

It was the first league win for the Britons who improved to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA.

Neither team led by more than five until Albion made its second half run. Trine led 34-33 when Megan Loveberry knocked down a 3-point goal with 11:02 to play. It took less than three minutes for Albion to build a 44-34 lead.

A 7-0 run later in the half – Rewa scored a layup, Lauren Epple made a 3-point shot, and Brett de Bear – boosted the margin to 15, 52-37, for Albion's largest lead of the afternoon.

Rewa pocketed her fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and a season-high 17 rebounds.

Albion will play its final MIAA game of the month Dec. 14 when it travels to Lenawee County for a date with Adrian College.
