MEADVILLE, Pa. – Junior Heidi Goeller tied a career high with 26 points, and Allegheny shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the field in the first half to run away with a 74-59 victory over Oberlin College Saturday afternoon.

The Gators would come out of the gate firing on all cylinders in the opening 20 minutes, at one point shooting 70 percent from the field to take an early 11 point lead. Goeller would lead the efficient attack for Allegheny, connecting on her first seven shots, en route to going 8-9 in the opening stanza dropping 18 points, while collecting six boards.

Sophomore Erica Restich would follow Goeller's lead, hitting on five of her first nine shots to rack up 14 points, helping Allegheny go into the half with a 19 point cushion. The Gators had everything working in the first half, outrebounding the Yeowomen 22-14, forcing nine turnovers and blocking four shots.

Allegheny would keep its foot on the gas early in the second half, picking up right where it left off. The Gators would grab their biggest lead of the game with just 8:40 to go, when junior Daryl Ford hit a jumper in the paint to put Allegheny up 26.

The Gators would ease up towards the end of the game, allowing Oberlin to get within 14 late; however the game was never in doubt, as Allegheny would sink their free-throws ending any Oberlin hopes of a comeback.

Goeller would have arguably the most efficient game of her career, going 11-14 from the floor and connecting on all four of her free-throws. Her 10 rebounds earned Goeller her team leading third double-double of the season.

Restich would finish the game with 16 points of her own. Ford would drop in 14 points and eight boards, and junior Ann Ryan would contribute with nine and six off the bench as Allegheny would improve to 7-3 overall on the season, 3-0 in conference play.

The Gators will play their final game before the holiday break on Tuesday, December 13 when they will travel to Cresson, Pa. to take on non-conference foe Mount Aloysius at 7:00 pm.
