GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - The Rosemont Ravens women's basketball team lost their CSAC opening game tonight against the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy College (GMC) by a final score of 69-59. The loss dropped the Raven's overall record to 2-2 (0-1 CSAC). GMC moved to 2-2 overall (1-1 CSAC).

The Raven's gave the Griffins a difficult struggle tonight, but were unable to put enough pressure on the Griffins in the first half, with GMC shooting 45% from the field compared to the Ravens' 34.5%. The Ravens trailed the Griffins 38-28 at the half. Rosemont hung with the Griffins in the second half, matching them on the scoreboard in the term, 31-31. GMC seemed to get a key turnover or a missed attempt from the Ravens whenever Rosemont started to inch closer in the waning minutes, and the Griffins kept the visitors at bay to hold on to the win.

Junior Ashley Montecchio (Aston, Pa.) led both teams, scoring 20 points. Montecchio plucked 13 boards for her second double-double of the season. First year Liz Coyne (West Chester, Pa.) added another 14 points for the Ravens while reeling in nine rebounds.

Rosemont finally plays their home opener on Wednesday, 11/30 when the team hosts Immaculata University in a conference game beginning at 6:00pm.
