Kristen Markoe Named CUNY Athletic Conference / Con Edison Player of the Week

FLUSHING, NY - Hunter College women's basketball player Kristen Markoe has been named CUNY Athletic Conference/Con Edison Player of the Week following an impressive week of action.

The reigning D3Hoops.com Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year led all Hawks' scorers with 37 points and 21 rebounds as Hunter improved to 2-0 in CUNYAC competition. The Staten Island native led all scorers with a season-high 23 points and added eight rebounds to help the Hawks drop the Bloodhounds, 79-62 in the CUNYAC opener.

The sophomore continued her impressive play at the 2011 Hunter Homecoming, earning her third double-double of the season. She guided the Hawks to a 62-53 victory over Lehman as she scored 14 points and grabbed 13 boards.

The award is the first for Markoe in the 2011-12 campaign and the first in her career. As a freshman last season, Markoe was named CUNYAC Rookie of the Week on five separate occasions prior to earning the CUNYAC Rookie of the Year award.
