(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team suffered an 82-67 setback in the opening round of the Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday night. Leslie Havens and Courtney Tennant combined for 43 points to lead the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) into the championship game.
The Devils were even with the Tigers throughout the first half, trailing just 41-39 at the break. A 15-2 run to open the second put RIT in front 56-41 with 13:17 remaining in the game.
The Tigers remained in control for the rest of the game and with face Cortland State in the title game. Cortland held off Rowan University, 58-47.
Junior Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) led the Devils with 13 points and 10 rebounds, adding a pair of assists and two steals. She hit 4-of-6 shots from the floor and went 5-for-6 from the line.
Classmate Lindsay Finnerty (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) scored 12 points while first-year Caitlin Gary (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) tallied 11 points, four assists and a pair of steals.
Belma Mekic (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) reached double-figures as well with 10 points. She controlled five rebounds and had two steals.
Havens led the Tigers with 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Tennant finished with 20 points and eight rebounds , hitting 8-of-11 free throws.
The Devils slip to 0-3 on the season. They face Rowan University at 2:00 pm.
