Tiffany Gregorich Reaches 1,000 Point Milestone as Falcons Soar to 5-0

Tiffany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) scored her 1,000 career point as the Falcon women's basketball team soared to a 72-56 victory over St. Scholastica Wednesday at the Karges Center.

Gregorich would capitalize on her special milestone by leading the Falcons with 18 points while helping the Falcons to a 5-0 start to the young season. She reached 1,000 career points with a made free-throw with 17:47 to go in the game.  Gregorich went into tonight's game needing nine to reach the prestigious milestone.  She now has 1,009 for her career thus far.  She also had five steals and six assists on the night.  Both the five steals and the six assists led the Falcons.

The Falcons were dominate from the very beginning, building a 5-0 lead within the first two minutes of the game.  UWRF would lead by as many as 21 with 2:41 remaining.  There were two times when the score was tied.  St. Scholastica's only lead was one, which came with 11:35 to go in the first half.

The Falcons used a balanced scoring attack to down the Saints, who are now 0-6 on the season.  Led by Gregorich's 18 points, four Falcons would finish the game with double-digit scoring.  Alise Holst (Plainview, MN, Plainview-Elgin-Millville) poured in 12 points and seven rebounds, and Lauren Pellowski (St. Paul, MN, Tartan) had a season-high 11 points in helping the Falcons remain undefeated.  Brittany Gregorich (Altoona, WI, Altoona) would end the night with a double-double, accounting for 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Maranda Dohrn (Lake City, MN, Lake City) led the Falcon attack of the boards.  She led all players with 15 rebounds, and has led the Falcons in rebounding in each of the five games they've played.  As a team, the Falcons dominated the boards, pulling down 53 while holding St. Scholastica to a mere 25.  The dominance on the boards led to 15 points off of second chance points for UWRF and limited the Saints to a mere two points.  The Falcons were spectacular with offensive rebounds, outrebounding St. Scholastica 15-2.

Sixteen different Falcons saw action in Wednesday's game.  Ten of those players were able to score at least one point.

The Falcons, who are ranked No. 21 in the most recent D3hoops.com poll, shot 37.7 percent from field goal range, connecting on 26-69.  St. Scholastica shot a better percentage at 42.6 percent, but only made 20 field goals out of 47.

With the victory, the Falcons are now 5-0 on the season.  They improve to 16-9 in the all-time series against St. Scholastica.

Up next for the undefeated Falcons is their WIAC opener at UW-Platteville.  The action is set to get underway at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3 in Platteville.

The Falcons are 38-24 all-time against the Pioneers.
