Corey Leads Saints to an 82-44 Win Over Geneva in PAC Opener

(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) - Sophomore forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Thomas More College women's basketball team to an, 82-44, win over Geneva College tonight (Wednesday, November 30, 2011) in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener for both teams at Metheny Fieldhouse in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the PAC.

Geneva jumped out to an early 7-6 lead with 14:59 to play in the first half when Kristland McCracken made a jumper.  Thomas More then took control of the first half and closed out the half on a 32-12 run capped by a lay-up by sophomore forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) with 41-seconds to play in the half to take a 32-12 lead into halftime.

The Saints controlled the second half as they led by as many as 40 points when sophomore guard Amanda Chucta (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) made lay-up with 1:45 to play in the game to give the Saints an 82-42 lead.  Geneva got a jumper with 19-seconds left in the game for the final score of 82-44.

All 12 Saints that dressed reached the scoring column and two Saints joined Corey in double-figures as junior forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) scored a career-high 14 points and freshman forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) added a career-high 13 points.  Corey led the team on the boards with a game-high nine rebounds, while junior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) and sophomore guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with five and junior guard Jill Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the team in steals with four.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (December 3) when it hosts Grove City College at 1 p.m. in a PAC game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
