BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team seemed poised to hand Cortland State their first loss of the season as they were dominating the Red Dragons but the visitors mounted an epic comeback and upended Medaille (89-76) in overtime.

Both team came out of the gates firing on all cylinders as they were trading made buckets over the games opening minutes.  The Lady Mavs held the advantage on the scoreboard from the opening team as they never trailed in the first half.  Prior to halftime Medaille grabbed its largest lead of the game to that point when Tanisha Travis knocked down a jumper with a dozen seconds left on the clock to send Medaille into the break with a (39-28) lead.

The start of the second half saw the Maverick momentum continue to surge as they pushed their lead to (66-39) following a pair of successful free throws from Mary Bongiovanni with (13:02) left to play in the second half.

It was at that point that Cortland State began their epic comeback.  Within two minutes they had trimmed the lead to (11) and with (5:35) remaining in the half the Lady Mavs were clinging to a two point advantage.  A Travis free throw would give the Mavs a three point cushion with (4:21) remaining.  The Red Dragons connected on a jumper shortly thereafter to claw within one before another Travis hit from the charity stripe would regain a Medaille two point edge.

At the (2:21) mark Cortland would knot the score up for the first time since the games early stages.  Again Medaille would grab a lead on a Travis layup with (1:03) left in regulation but a Cortland State layup with (00:49) ticks left on the clock would end up sending the game into overtime.

The visitors dominated the extra period, outscoring Medaille (17-4) during that five minute stretch en route to the victory.  For Medaille Travis finished with a team high (22) points and (12) boards while also dishing out (4) assists.  Teammate Joelle Pollak had an impressive line with (17) points, (7) rebounds, (5) assists, and (2) steals.

Two other Lady Mavs finished in double digits scoring as Brittney Rowland had (14) points and (5) assists while Morgan Howe chipped in with (13) points and (6) boards.

The loss drops Medaille to (1-2) on the year and they will hit the court next in their AMCC opener on Wednesday (11/30) at 8:00pm in a road matchup with Penn State-Behrend.
