Lady Jackets Fall Against No. 19 Hope College

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Defiance College women's basketball team dropped against nationally ranked Hope College, 68-43, on Tuesday night. Junior center Kim Comden led the Jackets with 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Flying Dutch took momentum early in the first half, as the Jackets struggled to get rhythm going offensively. Hope entered the break with a 40-14 advantage.

The second half was a different story for Defiance, as the Purple and Gold outscored Hope, 29-28. The Jackets stepped up the defensive effort and held Hope to 38.5% shooting in the second frame, while forcing the Flying Dutch into eight turnovers.

Comden earned her 12 points on five-of-seven shooting with two free throws. Sophomore Erica King also entered double figures with a 10-point effort. Senior Brooke Zachrich ended the game with five points, four rebounds and a team-best four assists, while sophomore Kim Bingley added six points and three rebounds off the bench.

Hope was led by Allie Cerone's game-high 14 points.

Defiance will return to action on Wednesday, November 30th against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Franklin College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm in Franklin, Indiana.
