Waltham, Mass. - Led by 52 percent second half shooting, Clark University pulled away from Endicott College taking a 57-47 win in the consolation game of the Brandeis Judges Classic in non-league women's basketball action on Sunday afternoon.
The Gulls trailed by just three at halftime, 22-19, and got within one after Jordan Ferland (Charlestown, N.H.) opened the half with a layup. But with the score 30-25 and a little under 17 minutes to play, the Cougars (1-2) hit 10 of their next 15 shots to take a commanding 52-32 lead, highlighted by a person 6-0 run by Ashleigh Condon (Hull, Mass.).
Endicott (0-2), meanwhile, went cold, connecting on just 3-of-14 attempts with five turnovers over the next nine minutes before finishing the game on a 15-5 run. The Gulls struggled all afternoon shooting, making just 25 percent of their shots (15-for-60).
Condon led all players with 15 points, including 11 in the second half, while Kelsey Giedymin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had 10 points and six boards.
Esther Cohn (Chapel Hill, N.C.) totaled seven boards and three assists for Clark, who also got six points and six rebounds from all-tournament team member Kate Minister (Manchester, England).
Ferland paced Endicott with 14 points, but shot just 5-for-22 from the field.
Clark will return to action on Tuesday when they host Simmons College in their home opener at 6:00 p.m.
