Late Push Lifts Rochester Past Baruch, 77-63

The Baruch College Bearcats lost a competitive contest to #8-ranked Rochester University, 77-63, in the championship game on Saturday night of the Chuck Resler Tournament in Rochester, New York.

The Bearcats led throughout a majority of the opening half and were up by as much as 26-21 with 6:49 remaining before halftime, but Rochester went on a 14-5 run to lead, 35-30, at halftime.

Rochester (3-0) began to build off their first half momentum and was able to grow their advantage to 47-36 within the first three minutes of the second half.

The visiting Bearcats (2-1) responded to cut the deficit to five points (59-54) with 9:56 remaining, but could not get any closer the rest of the game as Rochester finished shooting 51.6 percent (16-31) in the second half to remain undefeated.

Rochester earned the victory with a 23-6 advantage in second chance points, but the Baruch bench kept the game competitive by outscoring their counterparts, 29-18.


Jessica Dulebaled the Bearcats with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Toni Fenncame off the bench to total 10 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.   

Folashade Akindescored all nine of her points in the second half and Kiara Johnsonscored eight points off the bench.

Jodie Luther led four players in double-figure scoring for Rochester with 23 points and eight rebounds.

Baruch will return to action on Tuesday, November 22, with a 6:00 pm non-conference road contest at Farmingdale State.
