Medaille Women Stumble in Home Opener

BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team opened its home slate with a non-conference game against Ithaca College this afternoon in the Sullivan Center.  A tough second half would do the Lady Mavs in as they fell (70-58) to the Bombers.

The first half was a seesaw battle that saw Medaille lead by as many as eight points and trail by as many as four.  When the buzzer ended the opening half the Lady Mavs found themselves up (33-32).

However, the second half would be a different story as the Lady Mavs became turnover prone which changed the tide of the game.  The Lady Mavs were forced into (24) miscues overall, which turned into (21) Bomber points, while Ithaca took care of the ball to the tune of just (10) turnovers. 

After a sluggish start from the field Joelle Pollak heated up down the stretch and finished the as the games leading scorer with (22) points on (9 of 17) shooting from the floor.  She also knocked down a game high four three pointers in the loss.

Other key contributors on the offensive end were Tanisha Travis who finished with (13) points and (17) rebounds while Meghan Dougherty posted a great line with (11) points,(6) boards, (5) assists and a blocked shot.  Brittney Rowland tied a game high with seven assists on the day.

With the loss the Lady Mavs even their record at (1-1) and they will look to get back into the win column when they host Cortland State on Tuesday (11/22) at 4:00pm.
