ADA — Senior Kara Dysert scored a career high 24 points, but it was not enough as the Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell 76-62 to Hanover (Ind.) in the 2011 Sodexo Classic at the ONU Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

Ohio Northern falls to 2-1, while Hanover improves to 2-0 and wins the Sodexho Classic for the third straight season.

Dysert led ONU with 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting and 10-of-13 from the charity stripe, also adding seven rebounds.

Junior Morgan Dumbaugh added 17 points for ONU, while sophomore Cenzie Yoder tallied seven points and ten boards.

Courtney Prater led the way with a double-double for Hanover, recording 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Ohio Northern was blanked from three-point range (0-of-11), where Hanover shot 6-of-19 for 31.6%.

In the second half, Hanover had the advantage on points in the paint (26-6), fast break points (14-0) and bench points (18-3).

Both teams battled back and forth early in the first half, with nine lead changes and four ties in the first 11 minutes of the game.

With Hanover leading 19-15, ONU went on an 11-0 run behind five points from Dumbaugh and four from Yoder, taking a 26-19 lead at the 8:37 mark.

The Panthers answered back with an 8-2 run of their own to cut the deficit to 28-27 with 6:38 left in the half.

After trading baskets, ONU went on an 8-0 run to make the lead 40-31, before a pair of Hanover free throws made it 40-33 at the break.

Hanover dominated the second half from the onset by outscoring ONU 30-9 in the first 15 minutes, which included runs of 8-0 and 10-0 for the Panthers, taking a 63-49 lead.

Northern cut the lead to as few as eight points, but Hanover pulled away in the waning minutes as the game ended 76-62.

ONU had the edge from the charity stripe, shooting 24-of-33 (72.7%) compared to 8-of-14 (57.1%) for the Panthers.

From the field, Hanover shot 31-of-65 (47.7%), besting ONU's 19-of-50 (38.0%).

The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Kenyon for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
