Blue Devils have no problem calming the Storm

MENOMONIE (November 15, 2011) - Domination might be the best word to describe Stout's performance against Crown College, Tuesday night.

In the teams' first meeting in history, the Blue Devils forced the Storm into 56 turnovers, opening their season with a 95-33 win at Johnson Fieldhouse.

Five minutes into the game, it looked like it could turn out to be a bigger blowout than it turned out to be.  The Blue Devils (1-0) scored the first 13 points of the game with buckets from six different players.  Out of Crown's first 13 possessions over that span, they turned the ball over all 13 times, only attempting one shot, which resulted in an offensive rebound followed by a turnover.

With under four minutes remaining, a layup from Katelynne Folkers (Fr, Fall Creek) stretched the Blue Devil lead to 30, their largest lead of the half.  Stout led, 43-14 at halftime.

The second half brought much of the same; a lot of Crown turnovers and a lot of Stout points.  Stout improved their shooting percentage from 40 percent in the first half to 54 in the second, helped by a 55 percent clip from beyond the arc.

Freshman Ronnie Moltzau (Eleva) led the Blue Devils with 13 points, shooting 5-for7 overall and connecting on all three shots from downtown.  Whitney Rawdon (Jr, Eau Claire) finished the game with 12, all of which came in the first half.  Eighteen of 19 Blue Devils scored.

Crown's Judy Mundt led all players with 18 points, while teammate Mary Voss collected a game-high 15 rebounds.

Stout will return to action this Friday, Nov. 18 when they travel to Lakeland College's tournament to face Wartburg.
