Lindsey Brenneman marked a game-high 19 points and never came off the floor in leading Wheaton College (Ill.) to a 65-49 win over the UW-Oshkosh women's basketball team on Saturday (Dec. 4) in Wheaton.

The Thunder (4-2) also got three assists and two steals from Brenneman, who played all 40 minutes. Wheaton College held a 33-18 cushion at the break and never trailed in the contest. UW-Oshkosh (5-4) was paced by Michelle Boeder (Sr. • Oshkosh), who nailed 8-of-9 shots en route to 19 points.

On the game's opening possession, the Thunder got an offensive rebound and bucket to go in front for good. After Maris Hovee connected on a jumper, Brenneman sank her third free throw to gain a 10-2 lead with 13:54 left in the first half.

Boeder swished a three-pointer to bring UW-Oshkosh closer. She then sandwiched two more baskets around Megan Wenig's (So. • Oshkosh) three-ball to cut the Titans' deficit to 19-14 with 6:02 on the clock.

Wheaton College made a statement by ending the first half with a 14-4 scoring spurt. It started with Laura Karsten's shot from behind the arc, while Annie Bowen added four more points. With 51 seconds to play, Breanna Bohlen buried a triple to put the Thunder up by 15 at halftime.

Three different Titans recorded a jump shot early in the closing period. UW-Oshkosh continued to shrink the margin as Wenig and Boeder made back-to-back hoops during the fifth minute. Following a lengthy span with no scoring, Laura Ebbens (Sr. • Appleton) connected for two points and made it a 40-33 tally.

Boeder sank two long-range attempts later on, but so did Brenneman as the Thunder marked 11 of 13 points late in the half. Karsten made a pair of free throws at the 7:41 mark to gain a 49-35 lead. Wheaton College was up by at least nine points the rest of the way.

Bowen gathered eight rebounds to top all players, in addition to her 15 points. Kate Hoeksema dished out five assists for the Thunder, which shot 43 percent (22-51) from the field, 44 percent (7-16) from three-point range and 78 percent (14-18) at the foul line. Wheaton College also owned victories in rebounds (34-29) and turnovers (11-16).

UW-Oshkosh had two other players in double figures as Wenig and Shelby Churchill (Sr. • Sheboygan) each notched 10 points. The Titans, who shot 40 percent (19-48), were led by Churchill's five rebounds. Attempting nine free throws, UW-Oshkosh made seven (78 percent) and knocked down 4-of-11 three-pointers (36 percent).

The Titans return to league play at UW-Platteville on Wednesday (Dec. 8).
