DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) scored with 13 seconds left to lift the Wolverines to a 54-53 win over top seeded Mary Washington in the CAC Semifinals.

The Wolverines (15-11) had taken a 52-51 lead with 1:05 to play when Allison Beddia (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) heaved a long three as the shot clock expired.  The Eagles (20-6) ran some clock on their next possession, but Carol Dye was fouled and sank both free throws with 38 seconds left to put Mary Washington up by one.

On the Wolverines final possession, Owens got free down low and scored with just 13 seconds left.  The Eagles got off a shot at the final buzzer, but it was no good.

The win put Wesley into the CAC Championship Game for the first time since joining the conference prior to the 2007-08 season.  The Wolverines last played for a conference title in 2005-06 as members of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Wesley jumped out to an early 16-9 lead after a three by Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) with 8:50 left in the first half.  Mary Washington whittled the lead down and bucket by Claire Brooks sent the teams into the locker room tied at 25-25.

The Eagles then opened the second half with an 11-4 run that built a 36-29 lead with 13:49 on the game clock.

Mary Washington led by eight, 45-37, four minutes later before Beddia hit a three to start a 10-0 run that resulted in a 47-45 Wesley lead with six minutes left after two points from Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover)

Owens hit 9-of-16 field goals on her way to a game-high 18 points.  She added six rebounds and four steals in the game.

Beddia netted 15 points, fueled in large part by three threes and blocked a pair of shots.  Miller chipped in with 10 points, while Boyd dished out six assists.

Katie Wimmer was the lone Eagle in double digits with 17 points and added eight boards.

Wesley will travel to York (Pa.) for the CAC Championship on February 26.  The Spartans were seeded third, one place ahead of Wesley, meaning the game will be the first time in CAC women's basketball history that neither #1 or #2 seeds advanced to championship game

It will also be the fourth time in the last six years, and fifth time in CAC history, that a third-seed or lower wins CAC women's basketball title.
