Dickman Leads The Top-Ranked and No. 1 seeded Saints To a 68-47 PAC Tournament Win Over Thiel

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Senior center Nicole Dickman  (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored a game-high-tying 18 points to lead the top-ranked and No. 1 seeded Thomas More College women's basketball team to a, 68-47, win over No. 8 seeded Thiel College tonight (Tuesday, February 22, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament quarterfinal game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 26-0 and advance to the PAC Tournament semifinals on Friday (February 25).  With the loss, the Tomcats end the season at 5-21.

Thomas More jumped out to a 16-6 lead when Dickman made a three-pointer with 13:27 to play in the opening half.  The Tomcats answered with a 6-0 run capped by a jumper by Kelly Muffley to cut the lead to 16-12 with 11:39 to play in the first half.  The Saints responded with a 12-4 run to extend the lead to 28-16 with 5:58 to play in the first half when sophomore guard Chelsea Tolliver (Morning View, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a lay-up.  Thiel closed out the half on a 9-6 run to cut the lead to 34-25 at halftime.

Thomas More opened the second half on a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 46-25 when sophomore guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a lay-up with 16:25 to play in the game.  Thiel put together an 8-4 run to cut the lead to 50-33 with 11:14 to play in the game when Muffley made a jumper.  Thomas More answered with an 11-2 run capped by a jumper by freshman guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) with 4:59 to play in the game to extend the lead to 61-35.  Thiel responded with a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 65-47 with 1:49 to play in the game when Kelly Barzak made a jumper, but it wasn't enough as sophomore forward Rebecca Leffel (Troy, Ohio/Miami East) converted a three-point play with 25-seconds to play in the game for the final score of 68-47.

Joining Dickman with double-figure scoring for the Saints was Tolliver with 13 points.  Dickman led the team on the boards with a game-high seven rebounds, while Long led the team in assists with four.

The Saints will host either No. 5 seed Grove City College or No. 6 seed Washington & Jefferson College on Friday in the second semifinal game of the night at the Connor Convocation Center.  Game times of the semifinal games will be announced on Wednesday (February 23) morning.
