La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 63-49 loss to fourth-ranked UW-Stevens Point Saturday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles fall to 19-6 overall and 12-4 in the WIAC while the Pointers improve to 23-2 overall and 16-0 in the conference. UW-L will be the third-seed for the WIAC Tournament and host a quarterfinal Wednesday, February 23. 

UW-Stevens Point, ranked fourth on D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, is the top seed for the WIAC Tournament and will host a semifinal Friday, February 25 at 7:05 p.m. The Pointers are the sixth team in WIAC history to finish 16-0 in conference play and the first since UW-Eau Claire in 2002-03. UW-Stevens Point improved to 12-0 on the road with its win Saturday.

The Pointers led by as many as 11 points in the first half. UW-Stevens Point led 22-12 with 10:19 remaining in the first half when UW-L used an 11-0 run to lead 23-22 with 5:47 left after a Dana Churchill layup. The Pointers came back to take a 29-26 halftime lead.

Danielle Frank scored on a jumper for the first points of the second to cut UW-Stevens Point's lead to 29-28, but the Pointers went on a 11-2 run to lead 40-30 with 12:59 remaining. The Eagles could get no closer than six points the rest of the game at 44-38 with 8:55 left. 

Lindsey Litrenta led UW-L with 14 points Saturday while Churchill and Frank each scored seven points. Churchill had a game-high 12 rebounds while Frank finished with 10 rebounds and four blocks.

UW-L shot 38.6% from the field, including 35.3% (six-of-17) from three-point range, and 64.3% (nine-of-14) at the free throw line. The Eagles tied a season-high with 27 turnovers in the contest.

Cassie Bandow led UW-Stevens Point with 14 points while Christin Coles and Sam Barber finished with nine. Andrea Flease and Britta Petersen each had eight points. Petersen had a team-leading seven rebounds.

The Pointers shot 39.1% from the field, including 36.8% (seven-of-19) from three-point range, and 66.7% (six-of-nine) at the line.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, February 23 hosting a WIAC Tournament Quarterfinal against UW-Oshkosh starting at 7:05 p.m.
