Wesley's Seven-Game Win Streak Snapped

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Wesley College's seven-game win streak came to a halt with a 61-48 loss to first place Mary Washington.

With the loss, the Wolverines (14-11, 9-7 CAC) will be the fourth seed in the upcoming CAC Playoffs and will host the fifth seeded Bobcats of Frostburg State in the first round on Tuesday, February 22 at 7:00 PM.

Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) turned in her third straight double-double and fifth in her last six games with 11 points and 11 rebounds and also had four steals in the game. 

Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) led the Wolverines with 14 points, including four threes, while Allison Beddia (New Castle, Del./Delcastle) matched Owens with 11 points.

The Eagles (20-5, 15-1 CAC) jumped out to a 22-7 lead behind nine points from Katie Wimmer and eight from Carol Dye before taking a 32-11 lead into halftime.

Mary Washington stretched lead to as large as 41-13 early in the second half and held the Wolverines at bay for the rest of the afternoon.

Wimmer and Jenna McRae each had 18 for the Eagles.
