THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran never trailed during an 86-32 home victory over Caltech on Thursday night. Senior Donielle Griggs contributed a career-high 26 points, along with six steals to lead the Regals.

In the first meeting back on Jan. 20 it was Chelsey Hastigan who had the big first half with 17 points providing CLU a comfortable 38-16 halftime lead. In Thousand Oaks on Feb. 17 it was Donielle Griggs off the bench scoring half of her 26 in the opening period as the lead offensive contributor to a 38-12 intermission cushion.

Equally as pivotal to Thursday's margin of victory was Cal Lutheran's team defense which forced 39 Caltech miscues. Griggs and Erica Whitley provided six steals apiece, contributing to the team's total of 30 which is the highest single game mark this millennium.
The Regals converted 39 CIT turnovers into 46 points of their own. Despite shooting 2-for-9 from three and the free throw line in the first half, CLU went 4-for-9 from downtown and 10-of-15 at the charity stripe in the second half.
The Cal Lutheran bench provided 62 of the team's 86 points with the senior Griggs and freshman Julia Cratty both notching career-highs on the night. Cratty contributed a career-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor in only 10 minutes of action.
Of Caltech's 32 points, six apiece came from Paige Logan, Erin Hoops, Rachel Hess and Sarah Wright. Logan grabbed a game-high 11 boards as the Beavers outrebounded the Regals 44-38 on the night.
Cal Lutheran is now in a three-way tie for the third place in the SCIAC standings with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and La Verne. Whittier is one game back of this trio at 6-6 but still in the playoff picture for the SCIAC Postseason Tournament which features the top four squads in the final regular season standings.
Cal Lutheran (13-10, 7-5 SCIAC) will travel to Occidental (15-8, 10-2 SCIAC) on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m.
