Marymount Women’s Basketball Powers Past Frostburg State

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team defeated visiting Frostburg State 53-38 in the regular season home finale on Wednesday night.  The Saints retain second place in the Capital Athletic Conference standings and sweep the Bobcats on the season.

Seniors Amanda Billy and Beth Wiggins led the Saints (12-9, 10-5 CAC) with 12 points each while senior Maame Amponsah and junior Shannon Gough both added 10.  Amponsah chipped in 16 rebounds for a double-double while Wiggins also posted one with 10 boards.

Marymount took control from the get-go, scoring the first basket and never trailing in the game.  The Saints outshot the Bobcats (11-13, 8-7 CAC) 50 percent to 24.6 percent and outscored FSU 20-8 in the paint.

Elaina Hummel led the Bobcats with 11 points, the only FSU player to score in double-figures.

Marymount returns to the hardwood on Saturday as it closes out the regular season at Stevenson.
