PORTLAND – A pair of 19-point performances by Kandice McArthur (Jr., Post Falls, Idaho) and Erica Schultz (Jr., Medford, Ore.) was not enough to hold off a Lewis & Clark team playing for a share of the Northwest Conference lead Friday night as the Pioneers surged to an 80-56 victory over the Boxers in women's basketball action at the Pamplin Sports Center.

The Boxers (6-16, 2-11 NWC) led by as much as 13 points early in the first half over the Pioneers (17-5, 11-2 NWC).  Lewis & Clark rebounded, though, to outscore the Boxers 48-28 by halftime and cruised to earn themselves a first place tie with George Fox in the NWC standings.

McArthur finished the night shooting 6 of 14 from the field with two three-pointers, and a 5 of 7 performance from the free throw line, to compile her 19 points.  Schultz finished 7 of 12 from the field, two of which came from downtown.  Pacific shot 39.6 percent for the game (19-48), 6 of 16 from three-point range and 12 of 16 from the free throw line.

Kristina Williams led Lewis & Clark with 15 points while Neva Hauser added 14 points.  The Pioneers shot 43.9 percent for the game (29-66) and finished 7 of 17 from three-point range and 15 of 20 from the charity stripe.  L&C out-rebounded the Boxers 46-29 and forced 22 Pacific turnovers.

Over the first six minutes, the Boxers came out in aggressive fashion.  The Boxers vaulted out to a 10-point lead at the 15:50 mark on back-to-back long range shots from McArthur and her second three-pointer of the game gave the Boxers a 19-6 lead with 14:28 left on the clock.

After Schultz connected at the 13:54 mark, though, the Boxers would hit just three more shots from the field the rest of the half while the Pioneers fired up to shoot 51 percent.  Williams gave L&C their first lead on a three-pointer with 10:32 to go.  After trading leads with the Boxers twice, Kathlene Howe hit a three-pointer that gave the Pioneers the lead for good with 7:43 remaining.  L&C outscored the Boxers 23-2 over the final eight minutes, with a three-pointer by Sara Villanueava sending the Pioneers to the locker room with a 48-28 lead.

The Boxers went scoreless over the first seven minutes of the second half, allowing the Pioneers to go up 58-28 on a Hauser jumper with 14:55 to go.  The Pioneers extended the lead to 30 points on a pair of Daron Dean free throws at the 11;14 mark, which would be their biggest lead of the game.  The Boxers came no closer than 22 points the rest of the way, doing that on a pair of McArthur free throws with 1:35 to go.

Pacific plays their final road game of the season on Saturday, traveling to McMinnville to face Linfield.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
