Bullets Avenge Diplomats

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg jumped out to a 16 point halftime lead, before holding off a late Franklin & Marshall run, to come away with a 66-55 win in a Centennial Conference game Wednesday night. The Bullets avenged a Dec. 8 loss to the Diplomats and improved to 17-5 overall, 12-5 CC while F&M dropped to 11-11, 9-8.

Gettysburg held an early 6-5 lead in the first quarter before going on a 19-9 run to go up 25-14 with 8:05 left in the first. The Diplomats answered with five unanswered points from Elizabeth Snyder to cut the deficit to six, 25-19. The Bullets finished the first half with a 12-2 scoring run to lead 37-21 at halftime.

F&M started the second half with an 18-6 scoring run to get within four, 43-39, with 11:02 left in the game. Beth Holt scored 13 points in the run, including three treys, and Alexa Barbush pumped in five for the Diplomats. F&M would get as close as five, twice, in the remainder of the game but the Bullets responded each time to secure the win.

Julie McGrory led all scorers with 20 for Gettysburg a grabbed eight rebounds. Caitlin Moser finished with 17 points and nine boards and Sara Kinsley added 16.

Holt paced the Diplomats with 18 points. The senior guard finished with three treys and passed Mika Lugue '97 (127) for the No. 2 spot on F&M's all-time three-pointer list. Holt now has 129 threes in her career. Dana Johns '06 holds the record with 178.

Barbush finished with 16 points and swiped seven steals and Megan Pauley scored eight points for F&M.

The Diplomats return to CC action Saturday at Swarthmore with a 2 p.m. tip off.
